I told.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences. And for telling me not to worry if I don't see a heartbeat next week. I really appreciate your feedback and honesty. Sniff. I'm going to cry now.

M and I had a good conversation about whether to tell or not when I got home yesterday - he basically said along the same lines as what many of you had said - that if something does go wrong, we don't want to have to untell too many people. So I'm telling the people that I've been leaning on throughout this year, and would need to lean on even more if something did go wrong. I think that as Rebecca and Laurie said, I'd like them to share in the good news, even if it doesn't last.

So anyway, I called my college friend and told her. I'm so glad I did. She was so obviously happy for me. And she said the sweetest thing - that just this morning, in her prayers, she had made a bargain with God, that it was okay if she took a while to get pregnant (she just started trying this month), just as long as it happened for me soon. (Let's not get into the naivete of that statement - she does get that it's not as easy as it seems). I was so touched by that. Made me teary.

At the moment I'm feeling a little bit hungrier than normal, a little bit of tenderness in my chestage area (can't quite call it cleavage), and I think I'm hiccuping a bit more than is usual for me, but that's about it. I'm seriously considering either peeing on another OPK, or going out to buy another HPT. Just to make sure. (So far my count is two HPT's and one OPK).

(I also need to quit with the parenthetical statements!)

Thank you for your comments. I am still reading, but posting is a little hard right now.

I am very happy for you and I hope things go smoothly. Stop the peeing! You know the answer! The stick will not change its story. :)

I am glad you told your friend. She sounds like a very nice person, and certainly a person you want to share you happy and sad moments both.

ncd is so cute to say stop the peeing...

I have become a pee-stick fiend, so I can't give that advice.

Friends are great -- even in their innocence. :)

OK. Dumb question: why the OPK? Hey, I know some poeple have a stick-peeing obsession, but isn't peeing on one of those moot right now?

C'mon you gotta tell me. I want to pee on a stick - any stick!

(word verification was SSUKS - LOL!)

Glad you were able to share your news with someone that cares for you. Her bargaining was such a sweet gesture. I know how you feel about the POA obsession so I can't tell you to stay away.

Glad to hear that you were able to tell those close to you.

As for only peeing on 2 hpt, well, you're better than me. I used 5 (one being at the DR office)! LOL!

Good luck, Nico.

Well, I peed on any stick that happened to be laying around until my 6th week last pregnancy--I never got over the wonderfulness of seeing those 2 lines. But beware that after a certain point, the line simply does not get any darker...
I am so glad you were able to tell your friend and that she was as delighted for you as we are!

I'm glad your college friend was so sweet to you!

DD - Apparently luteinizing hormone that the OPKs measure is in the same family as hcg (that's why they give you hcg to make you ovulate for IVF). So you can actually use an OPK to test for pregnancy! I don't think the sticks have quite the same sensitivity as HPTs, but they definitely work!

glad that everything is still going ok and that you're seeing some symptoms - that must make it feel more real.

I'm with you on the hunger thing and the sore boobs. The other symptoms I get are mega-super-intense sense of smell and darkening of the nipples and slight queasies or feeling like I'm going to get the shakes if I don't get food in me NOW. Which is how I feel now- off to go eat, again!

Hey Nico, just stopping in to say Happy New Year. I hope 2006 gives you many things to celebrate, especially come summertime!
