Two down, 10 to go...

Second injection, same as the first. Except I almost fainted. Not so good. I think my first problem was that I pushed the needle in really slowly, not with a nice quick jab. Then I started pushing the plunger, and it was almost as if the blood was draining from my head at the same rate I was pushing the liquid in to me. I closed my eyes halfway through to collect myself, and spoke to myself very firmly "just get the damn stuff in, *then* you can faint!". I managed to complete the injection, then wobbled over to the couch and lay there for a minute until I could see straight again.

I think tonight I'll try it sitting down.

Did the pain make you light-headed or was it just the thought that you were sticking a needle into yourself?

If it was the pain, there are spots along your belly fat that are less sensitive than others. You will eventually find them. For me, the least sensitive spot is 3 inches to either side of my belly button.

Good luck. Don't pass out.

When I first started my injections, I was petrified. I iced the area for 5 minutes first, and always did the shots in my belly. Did you take an injection class? It really was helpful, along with the DVD that I was given. Eventually, I didn't need the ice and just went for it. It really does not hurt too much at all in the belly under the belly-button, like Sue said. Are you pinching the skin to gather a nice fatty piece first? I know you don't have much fat on your body, so maybe that is why it is more painful for you. Wish I could help you! Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! The injection itself is fine, not painful at all (I've put on about fifteen lbs since I first started all this, so the belly fat isn't a problem ;-). It's much more of a visceral reaction. My head is perfectly okay with the idea of giving myself the injection, but somehow, as I'm looking down at it, it just gets to me! Sitting down has helped a lot, haven't felt nearly as bad since that second shot.
