Aftermath - one week later

I had my first slices of raw genoa salami yesterday afternoon. YUM! Cold cut sandwiches are back on the menu, I had a tuna sandwich this afternoon. Really enjoying these things again. I can't wait for my first sushi!!!

I have ankles again! They were even more swollen right after I gave birth than they had been before (which I had no idea would happen, but is very common because your body is letting go of some of the fluid it's held on to, and the easiest place for it to go is your ankles and feet). I had really forgotten what my legs used to look like.

Having a baby is a great way to crash diet. 25lbs in a week. Amazing. I probably still looked about 5 months pg right after giving birth, now I'd say I'm at 3-4 months. I'm sure the next 10 lbs will take a little longer to come off, but after the initial delivery I was losing approx 2lb a day. I'm sure most of it is water (hence being able to see my ankles again!), but I was astonished at the rate it was dropping off. It seems to have slowed a bit over the last two days. Which is probably good, I need to have lots of energy to sustain the fiendish pace of eating going on around here!

I'm feeling much more like myself physically, just a little bit of tenderness left around the incision site. I can get up and down easily now, climb stairs (although M still won't let me do it more than twice a day!), and I'm walking pretty easily. I've wanted to go outside to walk for the last three days, but somehow it always gets to be dark out and we haven't managed yet!

Dang, he's even cuter than I imagined (sorry, but I think earlier in our emails I referred to him as Anthony instead of Antony).

Thank you so much for giving us some pictures. Did you hear the collective Oooh! and Aaaah! from there?

Congrats!

And how awesome that the pregnancy weight is already dropping off for you! Tha must make you feel great! :)

Enjoy your sushi!! It's my favourite food, and as such I can't give it up when I'm pregnant, I just stay away from the "raw" varieties. Even though a Spicy Tuna Roll is my #1 fave, the Dynamite Roll is close runner-up, and it's cooked! ;)

All the best,
Nilla

He is beautiful! And so are you . . . Congratulations. Reading your birth story made me cry (it doesn't really take much these days.

I've already advised G that he has to bring me a bottle of really dry pinot noir, a sushi dinner and a rare steak within 8 hours of giving birth -- and a nice cup of strong black tea to finish it off!

Congratulations again. Can't wait to hear how this little guy progresses!

Who looks that gorgeous just an hour after surgery?????? You and Antony, apparently!!! Oh, and hubby's cute too!

So glad to hear that you're bouncing back and things are going well. It's really amazing to be reading about your new life as a MOM!

I'm doing fine (thanks for asking). Of course, I'm in my typical last minute scramble, but for the most part it's all coming together. No real clues that things will be happening soon, though. But you just never know!

Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing. He is a cute little fella!

I am just catching up... wow the birth story is amazing. I guess I was lucky that I stretched so much that I must have damaged never endings as I had no pain after my c-section (I still don't have much feeling below my belly button come to think of it). So glad that you are well on your way to recovery!

Take care and enjoy!

YOu look amazing in that pic, Nico, and Ant is gorgeous. I'm so pleased things are going so well. Given how in shape you were when you got pregnant, I bet you won't find it too hard to lose the remaining 10 pounds.
